GeneralCounselWest is the name of Joseph (Joe) Schohl's boutique corporate law practice that is focused on providing emerging and fast-growing companies with strategic legal advice to help them grow. Our
mission is to provide these companies with access to sophisticated legal counsel at a level traditionally reserved for much larger companies, without having to hire a full-time general counsel.
Joseph Schohl's bio:
Joe is the former General Counsel of a Fortune 500 company and he combines his experience as a senior business executive with over fifteen years of practice as a corporate attorney, serving both in-house and at two of the world's premier law firms. Joe earned his MBA degree from Kellogg Graduate School of Management and finished first in his class while employed as a business unit general counsel for a large, multinational company. He became the general counsel of DaVita Inc., a Fortune 500 health care services company, supervising a legal department of 65 people (18 attorneys) and over 100 outside attorneys, all before reaching the age of 40. During Joe's four and a half year tenure as DaVita's chief legal officer the company more than doubled in size, achieving revenues of nearly $6 billion and employing over 30,000 people.

Carrie Fogliani's bio:
Carrie joins General Counsel West with over 10 years of experience working as legal counsel for some of the nation’s leading hospitals and pharmaceutical companies.
Most recently, Carrie served as compliance officer for City of Hope, a nationally recognized center for biomedical research, treatment and education. She oversaw the hospital’s compliance with federal and state health care regulations (including privacy and security requirements set forth under HIPAA and California state law, Medicare and Medicaid billing and coding requirements.)
Carrie has also worked as in-house counsel for two major healthcare corporations: Tenet Healthcare and Amgen Pharmaceuticals. As an associate at the law firm of Foley & Lardner, she advised clients on operational, transactional and regulatory health care issues.
Carrie has extensive experience in the areas fraud and abuse, Food & Drug Administration off-label promotion issues, physician self-referral issues and the development and implementation of compliance programs.
